Preparing and attesting the proxy authority abroad often takes the longest — commonly one to three weeks depending on the country. The ceremony itself is quick. Registration and the NADRA certificate follow over several days to a few weeks. Nothing is guaranteed.

Preparing the Proxy Arrangement
The Proxy Authority
The authority names the wakeel, the other spouse, the dower and any conditions, so that the wakeel cannot depart from what the absent spouse agreed. It is usually signed before the Pakistan mission in the country concerned. We draft it, check the wording and tell you how it must be attested before the date is fixed.
Dower and Conditions Agreed in Advance
Because the absent spouse cannot negotiate at the ceremony, the dower amount, whether it is prompt or deferred, and any conditions — such as delegation of the right of divorce or arrangements for the wife’s residence — are agreed beforehand and written into the proxy authority, so the Nikah Nama matches what both families agreed.
Choosing the Wakeel and Witnesses
The wakeel is usually a trusted male relative of the absent spouse, such as a father, brother or uncle, who attends with his original CNIC. Two adult witnesses also attend with their CNICs. Their details are entered in the Nikah Nama, so choose people who can be reached later if needed.
Eligibility Checks Before the Ceremony
Consent Must Be Clear and Freely Given
An online arrangement must never be used to marry someone who has not agreed. Both spouses must be adults — 18 or over is our firm policy and the law in Sindh — and the woman’s consent must be her own. An adult Muslim woman may marry without her wali’s consent (PLD 2004 SC 219).
If Either Spouse Was Married Before
A previously married spouse must prove that the earlier marriage ended — through a divorce certificate, khula decree or death certificate — and a woman’s iddat must be complete. A husband with an existing wife needs the Arbitration Council’s permission. These papers are checked before the proxy authority is even drafted.

How Online Nikah Services in Pakistan Handle Registration
After the ceremony, the Nikah Registrar of the area registers the Nikah under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961. The Union Council then issues the computerised marriage certificate through NADRA’s system. This follows the ceremony by days or weeks and is never same-day. We follow it up and send scanned copies before couriering originals.
Using the Certificate Abroad
Embassies and immigration authorities usually ask for the NADRA marriage certificate, the registered Nikah Nama and sometimes an English translation. Documents for use abroad may need attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs first. Ask the receiving authority for its current list and we will prepare the papers to match.
Updating Records After the Nikah
Once the NADRA certificate is issued, each spouse can apply to update marital status on the CNIC or NICOP. The wife may also wish to update her passport. Keep scanned copies of the Nikah Nama, certificate and proxy authority together, as embassies often ask for all three.
